Just before celebrating our 200th release this August we’re happy to announce a new face on KOMPAKT. We’re especially delighted because we’re talking about one of our dearest homies. SHUMI is known all over town as a great DJ and promoter and his infamous GRÜZI CLUB. It’s difficult to imagine Cologne’s nightlife without him. He’s one of those “unsung heroes” without which a lot of cities would be sadder places. He’s been producing in the closet for quite some time and now finally he’s ready to share his musical visions with us. “Jump for Joy” turned out to become a classic KOMPAKT release in many ways. It’s a very versatile 3-tracker covering some of the most recognizable KOMPAKT styles... Raw, hypnotic minimal techno (The End with no Beginning), dreamy romantic techhouse (The Wind and the Sea) and a euphoric pop-tinged “end of the night” track (Jump for Joy). Shumi’s a real allrounder, genre limits are not his thing. For him there’s only good music and boring music. The latter will be hard to find on this record...
