In these remarkably creative times in music history, where those old, jaded lines between electronic listening music and independent pop/rock have become an indiscriminated blur, Sebastian Meissner aka KLIMEK returns to KOMPAKT with a palate of sublime “MUSIC TO FALL ASLEEP” to. Meissner is no stranger to the ears of many. His perseveration to the progression of contemporary music and use of found sounds has taken listeners on journeys to Jerusalem deep inside turmoil of the Palestinian conflict as RANDOM INDUSTRIES to inside his diverse record crate with an ironic deconstruction of the post-digital genre as BIZZ CIRCUITS. Also, least we forget one of the late 20th Century's most acclaimed experimental acts AUTOPOIESES, where alongside Ekkehard Ehlers, Meissner grappled the task of redefining Noir in digital music. It's quite safe to say that his music over the years has earned him a place as one of today's leadingmusicians in his field. But let us return to KLIMEK…following the traditional values of what we affectionately brand as POP AMBIENT, Meissner convincingly creates a scenario where one could imagine GAS in a recording session with DAVID GRUBBS putting together the soundtrack for a future DAVID LYNCH film. “MUSIC TO FALL ASLEEP” is the crowning jewel that revitalizes his string of singles for KOMPAKT (see KOM61, KOM125) and acts as the perfect continuation to his previous full length “MILK & HONEY”. The acoustic guitar returns - a mingling of harmonious picking alongside the soothing tide of his subtle strums in which KLIMEK brings together in the spirit of song. As the title suggests, “MUSIC TO FALL ASLEEP" paints the picture of a nocturnal landscape - envision the faintest whispers of twilight as the hue of the sun falls below the earth, as the sandman beckons you to bed. “If you were to pick highlights from KOMPAKT's Pop Ambient compilations, it's a good bet that KLIMEK's contributions would shoot to the top of the list - an impressive feat…(his) stringed source adds a layer of familiarity and human comfort” - EARPLUG
